Sovereign is a zero-knowledge messenger: identity keys live in device secure storage, messages are encrypted before they leave the phone, and the relay keeps no message archive.

• Device-held keysRecovery phrase restores the same encryption identity, not a cloud password vault for your chats.
• Shareable profile cardsInvite someone with a link. They see public display metadata only, never your private keys or message content.
• Calls stay peer-to-peer when possibleWebRTC media is encrypted. Signaling is ephemeral, not a call recording service.
• Groups and rooms, still encryptedPrivate groups and scheduled spaces use the same device-held keys. Guests join by invite, not a public feed the server can read.
